Polis-Inventory meticulously maps the ancient Greek settlements dating back to the archaic and classical periods (circa 650-325 BC) identified in the renowned publication 'An Inventory of Archaic and Classical Poleis' by M.H. Hansen / T. Nielsen, Oxford 2005, referred to here as the 'Inventory'.
The digital dataset within Polis-Inventory, originating from the Inventory, is largely sourced from the website polis.stanford.edu, overseen by Stanford University's Classics Department. This dataset represents a methodical digitization and enhancement of the original printed material by subsequent classical scholars.
The Polis-Inventory application stands out for its informative and interactive nature, enabling users to visualize, search, and filter the Poleis based on various physical and historical parameters.
